In 1959, Clay Nicholls (in white jacket) and his group had a summer residency at Butlins Holiday Camp at Filey on the Yorkshire coast. His original lead guitarist, Joe Brown, quit after a month and was replaced by another 2Is coffee bar habitué, Tony Harvey (top left). It was Harvey’s Egmond guitar (proudly displayed here) that Hank Marvin borrowed to play the solo on Cliff Richard’s ‘Living Doll’.
