Adam Faith
An anonymous skiffler and a failed solo star, Adam Faith found himself washed-up and forgotten by the beginning of 1959 and had returned to his day job, resigned to a career as a backroom boy in the film industry. However, after a phone call from musical arranger John Barry, he was soon back in the fray, as resident singer on the new BBC television series Drumbeat – and, by the end of the year, their collaboration What Do You Want? had rocketed to number one to become the turning point in both their lives.
