Who would ever have thought he would be honoured by the Queen and become famous as the voice of Harry Potter?
Having decided that his future lay in show business, Jim Dale left Northampton Grammar School at 15. His apprenticeship embraced amateur talent contests, variety shows and six months as compere of the National Skiffle Contest. In late 1957, he became an ‘overnight star’ when he reached the Top Three with Be My Girl and was chosen to replace Pete Murray as a presenter on the weekly television show 6.5 Special.
Read all about him in ‘The Restless Generation’ by Pete Frame.
